In the Studio Episode 3: My Favorite Tools + Tips for Basting a Quilt

It’s time for In the Studio Episode 3, and this week I’m sharing some of my favorite tools and tips for pin basting a quilt.

I’ve been doing a lot of basting lately, and I’ve been using the same simple setup for years: a tabletop, some clamps, and curved quilting pins. I used to baste quilts on the floor, but once I started basting on a table, I never looked back. It’s much easier on my knees and back, and yes, I even use this little table to baste queen-size quilts!

Watch the video below to see the tools I use and hear why I prefer them.

• Heavy Duty Plastic Spring Clamps

• Dritz Curved Safety Pins (size 1)

• Kwik Klip (makes closing safety pins easier)—I forgot to mention this in the update video, but I demonstrate it in the Video Tutorial linked above

I also put together a time-lapse video of me basting a quilt on my tabletop, so you can see how I work through the process.
