Here’s another tip for Block 2:
Use your small scraps left over from the background of Block 1 for Block 2! I store mine in a Talenti gelato container. There are a number of small sections in Block 2. Don’t be intimidated—just piece as you have been doing. These small pieces allow for a smooth curve that looks like it was appliqued. Pretty sneaky, huh?
