Hey there, fabric loving friends! Today’s Shop Shout Out takes us to a sunny spot at a delightful fabric and quilt shop called superbuzzy, located in the beautiful coastal town of Ventura, California.
Back in 2018, I met Kelly, the owner of superbuzzy, at QuiltCon Pasadena. Not only did she showcase some of my quilts in her booth, but she also started carrying my patterns in her shop – and she’s still stocking them in her shop today! Fast forward to this spring, and I finally found myself with the perfect opportunity to pop into superbuzzy in person before heading a conference.

A Warm Welcome for Sewists and Quilters at All Levels
The first thing that struck me about superbuzzy was the incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Kelly has created a space that feels like a fun hangout space – perfect for browsing and soaking up all the quilting and sewing inspiration. Whether you’re a seasoned quilter with a mountain of fabric or a curious newbie just starting out, you’re sure to feel right at home here and hang out for a while! (You’ll probably also find something that you’ll want to acquire and bring home with you too!)
A Feast for the Fabric-Loving Soul
Now, to the fun part – the fabric! superbuzzy boasts a really great selection of quilting cotton prints and solids, with some truly unique finds you won’t see everywhere else. There are prints and solids you would expect to find at a modern quilt shop, but superbuzzy also curates beautiful fabrics and supplies from Japan and around the world. In addition to loads of yardage, they carry an array of pre-cut fabrics, bundles, and kits to jumpstart your next project.
Looking for something beyond quilting cotton? superbuzzy has you covered! They offer a variety of fun substrates, embroidery and stitching kits, and a great selection of notions. They even have a treasure trove of fabric panels for those who love statement pieces, and a collection of yarn and embroidery floss for the multi-crafty quilter.
Each and every item in the shop is hand-selected by Kelly, ensuring all the fabrics and products offered are high quality and unique
More Than Just Fabric Fun
superbuzzy isn’t just about sewing supplies. They also have a delightful selection of fun and colorful vintage sewing machines on display (major sewing room envy!), and plenty of other gift-worthy treasures.
Can’t Make it to Ventura? No Worries!
If you can’t bask in the California sunshine and visit superbuzzy in person, you can still experience the shop online! Their website is a treasure trove of fabrics, kits, and inspiration. Plus, be sure to sign up for their email newsletter. It’s packed with great deals and a section called “Buzzyworthy” that features links to fun articles about sewing, quilting, and fiber arts.
A Serendipitous Sewing Moment

Speaking of fun, guess who I bumped into Holly Marsh, who is a friend (and fellow creative) of a mutual friend. We’ve heard about each other for years and it wasn’t until browsing at superbuzzy that we met in person.
Sewing, Quilting, and Staying Inspired (and Stocked up on Fabric + Supplies)
Whether you’re virtually browsing or planning a California adventure, be sure to check out superbuzzy! It’s a shop that’s sure to leave you feeling happy, inspired, and ready to create something truly amazing. And, you never know who you might meet there!
Happy stitching and quilting!
Until next time,
Sheri
