Here’s an overview of what I discussed in the first Wildflower Remix Block bonus video featured above.
CHOOSING YOUR QUILT LAYOUT
A few helpful notes that might help you decide which layout to pick:
• Blocks 1–12 are used for the Runners/Wall Hangings, Throw, Twin, and Queen layouts.
• If you’d like fewer seams to align, the Runner/Wall Hanging Option A2 and the Throw with Sashing and Borders (Option B2) are great choices.
• If you’re planning scrappy or varied backgrounds, the Throw with Sashing and Borders (Option B2) visually breaks up the blocks nicely.
• If you want to use the least amount of fabric, the Runner/Wall Hanging options (A1 and A2) and the Throw Quilt (Option B1) require Blocks 1–12 only, with no additional fabric.
• If you’d like to make a larger quilt, the Throw with Sashing and Borders (Option B2), Twin (Option C), and Queen (Option D) are larger layouts. The Twin and Queen sizes require the Wildflower Remix Add-On Border Pattern, which is also ENTIRELY Foundation Paper Pieced!
• You can also keep the blocks separate and use them as mini quilts, placemats, small quilted projects, or even framed pieces of art.
PRINTING PATTERN PAGES
Ensuring your pattern pages are printed accurately is crucial. Be sure to set your print settings to “100%” or “Actual Size” to avoid any sizing differences. After printing, make sure you measure the 1″ box on EVERY PAGE to make sure every page printed at exactly 100%. My paper preference is letter-sized Pacon newsprint.
ASSEMBLING PAPER PIECES
It’s really important to me for quilt patterns to be accessible and easy for everyone to print. For that reason, all of my quilt patterns are set up on a standard US letter size paper, 8.5” x 11” and a little bit of assembly of the paper templates is required for some of the Wildflower Remix templates. This process is similar to making a pattern for clothing. In the video above, I show you how I like to cut, line up, and tape the pieces to assemble the templates.
STAYING ORGANIZED
Quilting is easier and more enjoyable when you stay organized! In the video, I review my top tips for staying organized.
TIPS FOR FABRIC CUTTING
To make sure your fabric is large enough to cover your sections, I suggest cutting and labeling fabric according to the cutting diagrams. This not only streamlines the process but also eliminates guesswork when piecing.
ATTACHING FABRIC TO YOUR FIRST SECTIONS
To make getting started easier, I recommended using water-soluble fabric glue sticks for attaching the first piece of fabric to the paper pieces. These glue sticks ensure a smooth paper removal process without leaving residue on your fabric.

I can’t wait to see your first block come together!
