Let’s get sewing!

In this video, I share tips that will be helpful as you get ready to piece your sixth Greenhouse Garden block. This month I share some tips for handing piecing sections that may are narrower than ¼”. While some of the narrower sections in this block may create some bulk in your seams, using a sharp needle and pressing them well will help you accurately sew and then getting the seams nice and flat. I even recommend trying a microtex needle when sewing through thicker areas. I also encourage you to experiment with different presser feet to find one that makes paper piecing, especially over multiple seams easier. For the leaf and stem alignments, be sure to check out the Greenhouse Garden Block 2 bonus video for a refresher on positioning pinning.

  1. The videos play at such a high speed that, even at .25 they’re impossible to watch. Is there a remedy for this, or is it my laptop that going crazy?

    1. Hi Victoria, Thanks for checking out the video. The first one at the top of the page has the tips for this month’s block. The second video is just a fun time-lapse video I took when I pieced my block—it is intended to go at that speed as there’s no instruction in the video. Happy sewing! Sheri
