Have you heard? The Splendid Sampler II: Another 100 Blocks from a Community of Quilters by Pat Sloan and Jan Davidson will be released this fall. I’m excited and honored to announce that I am one of the 80 designers from around the world to have contributed a block to the book. I have to keep my block a secret for a bit longer, but in the meantime there is an online sew along (with 20 free blocks from the new book) that you can download and make between now and November!
The first block, entitled Quilt Market, was designed by Alex Veronelli from Aurifil. It is available now. You can read about the inspiration behind the block and download the pattern as a PDF.
I’m going to be sewing along too and am going to use all solids from my scrap collection and stash. All of the blocks trim down to 6.5″ square so they sew up quickly. Here is my Quilt Market block:
Want to be a part of the fun?
• Check out The Splendid Sampler website and download the instructions for the first block.
• Be sure to follow the Sew Along party on The Splendid Sampler Facebook page to get fabric inspiration and see everyone’s blocks coming together!
• Pre order The Splendid Sampler II: Another 100 Blocks from a Community of Quilters book! You’ll definitely want the book to make all of the blocks!
• Want to check out the first book, The Splendid Sampler?
Let’s make something awesome!

I love your version of the Quilt Market block!!!!
Thanks so much Deb! It’s a fun block to make!
I am so excited you have a block in the Splendid Sampler 2 book. Hmmm, will yours be one we see before the book comes out? It would be nice to see it before October. Your Quilt Market block is very pretty.
Hi Nancy, I’m still not allowed to ruin the surprise if my block will be released prior to the book coming out or not. As soon as I can say, I will share! Thanks so much!
