Hello quilting friends and fellow fabric lovers! Today I’m excited to share a closer look at the Wildflower Remix quilt I made using Moda Grunge fabrics. I love working with Grunge fabrics because they bring a beautiful texture to my foundation paper pieced (FPP) quilt blocks. The petals and leaves feel a little more dimensional and you get all those fun subtle color shifts without losing the clean, modern look of the quilt. It’s a fun fabric option for the Wildflower Remix design, and I can’t wait to show you more.
Let’s get into it!

EVERY curve and petal in this flower quilt pattern is Foundation Paper Pieced (NO curved piecing or applique required). With just 12 quilt blocks (each measuring 20½” x 15½”), you can make a beautiful Throw quilt or a few wall hangings/runners. If you want to make a larger Twin or Queen size quilt, an optional add-on Wildflower Remix Border Pattern (also entirely foundation paper pieced) is available.

Once I had the first few blocks up on my design wall, I could tell this version was going to be something special. The Grunge fabrics added this soft, brushed texture to each bloom, while the clean, graphic lines of the quilt top kept everything feeling crisp and modern.
For this quilt made with Grunge fabrics by Moda, I worked with a navy background that has just a hint of purple running through it. The flowers are a mix of warm yellows and oranges, mixed with magenta, pink, and purple blooms, and of course plenty of zesty green for the leaves. Against the darker navy background, all of those colors just pop!

The Grunge Fabrics by Moda I used are:
• Raspberry (flowers)
• Butterscotch (flowers)
• Tangerine (flowers)
• Apple Blossom (flowers)
• Berry (flowers)
• Grape (flowers)
• Zesty Apple (leaves and binding)
• Nocturne (background)

If you love a bit of texture, or you’re looking for something that sits somewhere between a solid and a print, Grunge fabric is a great option for Wildflower Remix. It brings a fresh energy to the quilt, soft and a little painterly but still very clean and modern.
