I’m super excited and incredibly honored to be October’s Aurifil Designer of the Month. I was asked over a year ago to participate and have had a lot of time to think about the theme and what I wanted to design. I finally get to share all of the details and the block with you!
This year’s theme is “The Places We Go — Blocks Inspired by Favorite Places”.
My block, Central Park, was inspired by my favorite public park in the greatest city—New York City!
Central Park and NYC hold a special place in my heart as it’s where my husband, Jason, and I got married. When I found out that my block would be released in October, I decided that I had to design a NYC-themed block since it is also my anniversary month.
Download and make my Central Park block!
I constructed my block using one of my favorite quilt top sewing techniques, foundation paper piecing! Head on over to the Aurifil website to download the block for free and read an interview with me. You can also enter for a chance to win a free Aurifil thread box!
Want some of my foundation paper piecing tips? Head on over to my Butterfly Bunch QAL page where I have a video sharing some pointers for paper piecing.
While you’re there, check out all of the free blocks on the Aurifil Designer of the Month page. Here is the 2018 Design Team with Alex and Elena from Aurifil:

Happy Anniversary. 🙂 I’m excited to make your block this month!
Thanks Yvonne!
I’m really late to this party (catching up on posts after a few months away), but must take a moment to gasp! at how much I love this block. There’s Broadway angling away from Columbus Circle…fabulous. And a fun post.
Hi Cat,
You’re never too late to a blog/quilting party! Thanks so much for your kind words and happy quilting!
